GTO Project - Part 4

A fairly quick entry this time.  With the car still up in the air I am able to poke around much easier.  Unfortunately that means finding more rust...

The passenger side back box has a heat shield on it to protect the fuel tank.  It seems that this is loose and just about to fall off.  Not having ready access to a welder I needed to come up with a solution for securing this.

I ended up getting some bare garden wire.  Not the easiest thing to work with but its about 1.5mm thick and galvanised so its not going anywhere in the near future.  I wrapped it around both ends of the back box, and through the holes in the heat shield to secure it in place.

Once it was all tied off I used a crimp to secure the loose ends and then poked the excess inside the cover.  The plastic from the crimp would probably have just melted / burnt off after one drive, but i decided to cut it away to save the hassle of chasing the smoke.
